Our classroom is designed to be nurturing and stimulating, including materials that enrich social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth. We recognize each child’s individuality and assist all children in developing a positive self-concept while recognizing others’ individuality as well. Through positive interactions with their peers and the staff, children learn to develop trusting relationships. each of our classrooms are designed to support children at the specific developmental stage they are, while including activities and materials aimed at supporting their school readiness. Lesson plans are created, posted, and given to parents in a monthly newsletter. Given the nature of the program and our trauma-responsive lens, the prime focus will be on fostering an emotionally safe environment for children to explore. A low teacher/child ratio will allow us to adapt the program to what individual children need. A positive self-concept is enhanced through a classroom that ensures a balance between individual and social development. Classroom structure consists of a variety of activities organized in group and structured activities, individualized activities, and free play. Curiosity, initiative, and creativity are valuable learning tools and an important part of children’s development. We encourage children to manipulate materials rather than watch, and to be actively involved in learning experiences. Our program partner’s with other programs like MacPhail Center for Music to offer music experiences within each classroom. The center’s complete Child Care Program Plan is available to any parent upon request.
Infant Program:
Each infant follows an individualized feeding and napping schedule based on their needs and parent requests. Infants are given time each day to explore their environment in chosen areas throughout the room. There are also various activities planned by the infant teacher to work on individualized goals for each infant. Diapers are changed every 2 hours or as needed. For infants that are eating table food snacks are served at 10am and 2:30pm; lunch is served at 11:30am.
